So close to Cape York now we can almost taste it…!

Look where Oppy is – just LOOK where she is!!

She’s now just 250m or so from the southern end of Cape York – in fact, if she turned sharply to the left, she’d only have to drive 201m and she’d be at its edge! We’re so, so close now – a couple of good drives and Oppy will be rolling down Botany Bay, seeing the horizon drop dramatically and seeing Endeavour Crater open up before her…

It’s almost unbelievable, isn’t it?

So, what is Oppy seeing now? Let’s take a look…

She has just passed “Pathfinder Mound”, a feature I had been calling “Almost There”crater. Turns out it wasn’t a crater at all, but a big dust dune standing there like a mini martian Ayers Rock…

Here’s that view in 3D… pretty gorgeous, I’d say…

Then she moved on, and here’s what she’s seeing now…

There’s something interesting up on the horizon there… I took fopur of the “failed” images (the ones with big black square “data dropouts” on them, stacked them together, then stretched the image, and found this…

Hmmm… now… is that the crater on the southern tip of Cape York starting to appear? I’m not sure, we’ll have to wait and see. Exciting! šŸ™‚

Some more images should come down today, hopefully showing us even more of the interior of Endeavour. And I’m really hoping that today we’ll get to see the images taken by the microscope, too. Check back later for the latest news…
