Zig-zagging through the Mercury Cluster…

Well, the image pipeline that runs between Earth and Mars, which has been thoroughly bunged up for the past four or five days appears to have been cleared, and we’re shoulder-deep in pictures again – and “Tesh” has used those pictures to work out that Oppy has not only reached the cluster of craters named after the spacecraft flown by the Mercury astronauts, but has zig-zagged her way through and past them, and is now heading towards Endeavour once more…

Going back a couple of sols, here’s what Oppy saw as she approached the craters…

She then pulled up closer to “Freedom 7″…

…and off to the other side, the smaller crater “”Friendship 7” was looking just as impressive…

Closer then to “Freedom 7”, and this wonderful view…

And if you’re still not sure which crater was named after which spacecraft. here ya go, the craters labelled with the mission patches shown too…

So, Oppy didn’t tarry at the “Mercury Cluster” a moment longer than necessary, proving that the MER team are absolutely determined to get Oppy to the rim of Endeavour as soon as they can…

Drive Oppy… drive, drive drive! 🙂
