…and all over the internet Mars- and rover-enthusiasts are still shaking their heads in disbelief at just how slap-across-the-face impressive Santa Maria crater has turned out to be. From orbit it looked, well, interesting, but the images being sent back by Oppy are just ridiculously dramatic.
Here’s a round-up of my latest colourisations…
I love this next view, because it shows dark dust trickling out of cracks in a small outcrop/knub of rock on the crater’s wall (the feature on the left)…
As the song says, put them together and what do you get..?
…and an even wider angle view, which you really have to click on, and enlarge, to see it at its best, believe me…
Now, is it me, or is there some kind of giant, martian falcon embedded in the rocky eastern wall of Santa Maria..?
We’re not expecting anything much more to come back from Oppy over the hol, but you never know, a few stragger images might sneak through. Keep checking back here, just in case. In the meantime, thanks to all of you for following this blog during the past year, and keeping me – and Oppy! – company as we travel down the Road to Endeavour…! π
Merry Christmas, everyone π
Thanks so much for all of your hard work in keeping this site going . . . I know I’m not alone in appreciating it, and look forward to your continued reports!!
