Crossing the Line…

Oppy is about to enter a very interesting part of Meridiani Planum, I think. Up ahead: some big ripples, some crater remnants, lots of exposed bedrock and a decidedly strange feature…

Here’s where Oppy was at the end of her most recent drive – at least, at the end of the one plotted most recently by UMSF’s Tesheiner…

You’ll see she’s heading for a kind of “gap” in a broad band of bedrock. This is a lot more obvious in a crop taken from an actual HiRISE image of the area… Oppy’s most recently position is the red dot…

…and we know that with some certainty because if you look at this mosaic of images you can actually see that line of exposed bedrock patches stretching away from Oppy…

Look closely and you’ll see that once she crosses that “border” there’s a lot to see. I’m particularly interested in the feature ringed in red in this image…

…which looks like a raised pedastal of dust, or something, when you look at it more closely…

Looking forward to the next leg of the journey! 🙂
