Oppy is having a fine old time up on the eastern flank of Cape York. Havingstudied and then driven away from the Stegosaur spine-like outcrop “Kirkwood” and the almost pancake-flat rocky plate “Whitewater Lake” she’s now driving back towards them, her circuit of the terrain around Matjievic Hill almost complete. Here’s her most recent view…
If you click on that to enlarge it you can see, over on the far right, Oppy’s tracks up the side of Cape York leading to the Kirkwood outcrop, and on the far left you can see her tracks leading back towards Whitewater Lake. Helps if you animate it… you might have to click on this to set it running…
What next for Oppy? Well, probably some very detailed scientific investigation of the rocks here, there’s a lot of geology to do on this part of Cape York. And down the line, way down the line, she’ll head south, roll off Cape York, cross Botany Bay and then head towards Cape Tribulation – and start climbing…
But I hope you’re in no hurry to get there because Oppy has a lot of serious work to do where she is right now.
By the way, remarkably, this blog will be celebrating it’s fourth (yes, fourth!) birthday early next month, so I’m hoping to mark that with an extra special post. Stay tuned.

Awesome and still the best way to keep in touch with Opportunity’s journey!
Wow, Stu, pretty Animation !
